I have made 3D models of the ships to create Illustrations for the book and Wikipedia articles. I have already started working on the second volume. I published it on 14 February on Amazon Kindle and am real happy about it. I have been working on and off on this for six years after studying it for over 20 years. I have been working on a book project about ships that Germany didn't build during the second world war. I have thought about seeing if a programmer could write scripts to use Blender with the CDK so i wouldn't have to export/import/convert axis the model from Blender into 3Ds max. I haven't even worked on the project for a couple of years now, as I just basically gave up on Autodesk. This lets me know that I was effective in helping you, and thank you for doing so.

If they included an installer or script that asked for the max root directory, I'm guessing you'll find that in the menu as shown in the image above. Now, every object in max has a simple object properties dialogue that you can get to by right clicking on the object and selected "Object Properties" but I have the sneaking suspicion that in this case it's an actual script or plugin by the company you listed there that you/they mean and not the simple max object properties. I'm not familiar with this particular Kit but I'll still try to help. I'm guessing here that they have some sort of script that when added or run will place the menu item you are looking for within this space. In a lot of cases plugin makers will write scripts and extensions that add an entry to this area. When they say to open the Utilities menu, they mean this image below, technically the Wrench icon is the utilities menu but they often hide more tools in the "more" button:
